History was created in the field of politics on Thursday as NDA’s Draupadi Murmu was elected as the 15th President of Independent India after defeating opposition candidate Yashwant Sinha by a huge margin leading in all three rounds.
Remarkably, Draupadi Murmu is the first tribal women President and 2nd Women President of India. The oath ceremony is on July 25, Monday.
Murmu has accumulated 53.13 per cent of the total vote value after three rounds of counting. There is still one more round to go, in which votes of nine states and two Union Territories will be counted.
Draupadi Murmu is only the second woman President of India
