Indian star opener Rohit Sharma is one of the most talented batsmen around the world right now. He is known for doing wonders with his bat and for his destructive performances. He has given many top-notch performances in all three formats of the game.

Talking about the longest format of the game, Rohit has opened for India in 23 Test innings since being promoted to the top of the batting order, out of which eight have come overseas. Interestingly, in four of those innings, team India has managed a fifty-plus opening stand, which includes the recent record-breaking 126-run stand at Lord’s against England.

Rohit’s knock of 83 runs in the first innings of the Lord’s Test played a crucial part in India’s win. This was followed up by a 21-runs knock in the second innings

Meanwhile, legendary Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar showered praises on Rohit Sharma as he claimed that Rohit has gone a “notch higher” as a batsman. Sachin lauded Rohit’s performances and the way he defended the ball.

“(From) whatever I have seen, I feel, he has taken the lead and he has shown the other side of his temperament and how he can change his game and adapt to situation and play accordingly,” Tendulkar told PTI.

Sachin also talked about Rohit’s tendency of playing the hook and pull, which often results in his dismissal. He said:

“He has been a leader there and KL (Rahul) has supported him brilliantly. As far as playing pull shot is concerned (which got him out in the first innings at Lord’s), he has cleared the fence with that shot and I am looking at what he has been able to achieve for the team in both Tests. Rohit has left the ball and defended the ball brilliantly or equally well. He was always a fantastic player but seeing his last few innings in England, I can say he has definitely gone a notch higher,”

Furthermore, Tendulkar heaped praises on the Indian bowling attack and opined that this bowling attack is the best in the world. He said:

“Today this bowling attack is the best in the world. It’s a reflection of talent, discipline and ability to work hard on fitness and wanting to learn more. I don’t like comparisons across eras because bowling attacks should also be judged by batters who are batting against them. Be it during Kapil’s or Srinath’s or Zaheer’s generation, there were different batsmen facing them,”
