Legendary Indian seamer Jhulan Goswami played her last international game on Saturday – against England at Lord’s. The match finished with India winning by only 16 runs, emerging successfully in defending a low total of 169.
In her last match, Jhulan bowled stunningly and finished with brilliant figures of 10-3-30-2.
Tributes have been pouring out throughout the day and the week for the iconic Indian cricket – Jhulan Goswami.
One special tribute came from Indian batting great Sachin Tendulkar. After India had won the third ODI at Lord’s Tendulkar quoted BCCI’s tweet and wrote: “Thank you for everything you’ve done for Indian cricket,” Sachin Tendulkar tweeted.
“Many congratulations on a wonderful career @JhulanG10,” the legendary batter added.

Seamer Renuka Singh won the Player of the Match award for taking 4/29 (all 4 wickets were of top 6 England batters).
Hailing Jhulan as her inspiration, Renuka said: “I was very excited to play alongside Jhulan, when she made her debut, I was just 3. I get inspired by her.”
This Lord’s ODI brings down a glorious, iconic, and inspirational 20-year career for Goswami in the India colours. Hailing from Bengal, Goswami bowed out as the highest wicket-taker in women’s internationals, with 355 wickets – 44 in Tests, 255 in ODIs (the highest in the world) and 56 in T20Is – across formats before the start of this Lord’s ODI vs England. The Bengal pacer has featured in six 50-over World Cups.
She made her India debut way back in 2002, and played a big part along with the former skipper and legendary batter Mithali Raj in revolutionising Indian women’s cricket, inspiring girls from all parts of the country to take up cricket.
“When I started, I never thought about playing for such a long time. It was a great experience that I’ve enjoyed and learnt from,” Jhulan had said on the eve of the Lord’s ODI.
