Salman Butt Made A Big Statement Against Varun Chakravarthy

Talking about his performance, former Pakistani opener Salman Butt took a dig at the Indian bowler. Speaking on his YouTube channel after Pakistan’s historic win against India, Salman Butt said the mystery spinner was no surprise to the Pakistani cricket team. and went on to question his selection for the high octane clash. He went on to say that every kid in Pakistan plays this kind of bowling in streets. He said:

“Varun Chakravarthy may be a mystery bowler but he was no surprise to us. Kids in Pakistan play a lot of tape ball cricket. Every kid in Pakistan plays this kind of bowling in street cricket, where bowlers do the finger tricks with the ball and try different variations,”

Further, Salman Butt tried to draw a parallel between Chakravarthy and Sri Lanka’s Ajantha Mendis.  He claimed that the Pakistanis are used to such bowling. He said:

“Ajantha Mendis struggled a lot against us and in the end he was not selected against us. The type of bowling Varun uses as a variety is common here in street cricket. It’s not that he is not good, it’s just that we are used to it,”
