Former Indian cricketer and commentator Sanjay Manjrekar has often stirred controversies and made headlines during the past one year. From him calling Ravindra Jadeja a ‘bits and pieces’ player to questioning the credentials of Harsha Bhogle on-air, he created a lot of controversies that eventually led to his ouster from the commentary panel.
Recently, he was at it again after the IPL 2020 season opener between Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians, when he called Chennai Super Kings’ Piyush Chawla and Ambati Rayudu ‘pretty low profile cricketers’. Yes, while praising both the CSK players, Sanjay Manjrekar called them ‘pretty low profile cricketers’. He wrote:
“So happy for two pretty low profile cricketers Piyush Chawla and Ambati Rayudu. Chawla was sensational with the ball. Bowled the 5th & 16th over too. Rayudu..well…one of the best IPL innings from him based on quality of shots played! Well done CSK! #IPL2020”

Well, the tweet didn’t go down well with the fans of both the cricketers, who are now trolling Sanjay Manjrekar left, right, and center for his tweet.
Among many, a twitter user suggested that Sanjay Manjrekar should have used the word ‘underrated’ instead of ‘low profile’. He wrote:
“Dear sanjay, you should have used “ underrated” rather “low profile”. Going forward please use right words!!”

The tweet soon caught the eyes of Sanjay Manjrekar, who came up with a reply, where he took a quick U-turn from his earlier statement. In his first tweet, he tried to take a dig at Ambati Rayudu, who asked the troll to edit all his tweets. He wrote:
“Okay sir, next time will send the draft of my tweets for you to edit”
In his second tweet, Sanjay Manjrekar wrote that only a fool would underrate Chawla and Rayudu. He wrote:
“And another thing, only a fool would underrate Chawla and Rayudu in IPL.”
