Sanjay Manjrekar Targets Ravindra Jadeja Yet Again

Last updated:

Former Indian cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar feels that Indian star all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja will have to prove himself to the Indian selectors that he is an adequate replacement for players like Dinesh Karthik and Hardik Pandya at the No.6 position in the team.

Ravindra Jadeja is hailed as one of the finest all-rounders to have played for the Indian cricket team. Over the last many years, he has been one of the most consistent red-ball batters in the world, and in the last 3-4 years, he has performed amazingly well in the limited-overs format as well.

Ravindra Jadeja’s Form Has Become A Concern For Team India

Jadeja has become a dependable lower-order batter for Team India and has played several important knocks in crucial situations. Time and again, he has come to India’s rescue with his all-around skills and fielding exploits have come to the aid of India during crucial situations.

Speaking about the same to Sports 18, Sanjay Manjrekar said that if Ravindra Jadeja wants to cement his place as a batting all-rounder in the team, then he will have to show that he is an adequate replacement for Hardik Pandya or Dinesh Karthik. He said:

“If he is going to be a batting all-rounder, then he has got to show that he is an adequate replacement to somebody like a Dinesh Karthik, who is likely to bat at No. 6 or No. 7, or somebody like a Hardik Pandya at No. 6,”

Sanjay Manjrekar Made A Big Statement

Ravindra Jadeja’s bowling has become a cause of concern for the team as he hasn’t been that effective while rolling his arm over. While he has been struggling, Axar Patel impressed one and all with his performances during the West Indies tour.

Manjrekar said that Jadeja is aware that there is some serious competition going on and that he would have to prove to the selectors that he is a better bowling option than Axar Patel in white-ball cricket.

He added: “Ravindra Jadeja himself knows there is some serious competition coming in. So it is really about Jadeja now convincing the selectors whether he is going to be a bowling all-rounder or a batting all-rounder. Depending on that, his place on the team will be decided. If he is competing as a bowling all-rounder, he has got to convince the team management that he is better than Axar Patel as a second spinning option,”
