Former Indian cricketer and commentator Sanjay Manjrekar hailed Washington Sundar for his brilliant performance. On Day 4 of the ongoing 1st Test match against England, Washington reached his second Test half-century as he slammed the four off Dominic Bess to reach his fifty.
Washington Sundar walked-in to bat at the crease at number 8 when team India was reeling on 192 for 5 after the dismissal of Rishabh Pant and Cheteshwar Pujara. Sundar played a very impressive and responsible knock of 85* runs to reduce the lead. Team India still ended up conceding a mammoth lead of 241 runs after being bowled out for 337 but the score could have been much bigger if Sundar’s contribution wasn’t there.
While wickets kept falling from one end, Sundar remained firm from the other end and tried his best to keep the scoreboard ticking at a good rate. He formed an amazing partnership with Ravi Ashwin and added 80-runs with him to take the score past the 300-run mark. However, Ashwin was soon dismissed and Jasprit Bumrah, too, failed to perform, leaving Sundar stranded on 85.
Once again, Sundar wasn’t able to score his maiden Test hundred, however, he has been receiving praises from all over for his stunning knock. From cricketers, experts to fans, everyone is lauding the performance of Sundar. Among many former Indian cricketers and commentator Sanjay Manjrekar also took to his social media and wrote an amazing tweet for Sundar.
In his tweet, Sanjay Manjrekar praised the bowling and batting skills of Sundar and wrote: “So he can bat like this & bowl like that. What a talent Washington Sundar is! #INDvENG”
