IPL 2024 - 'I Want To Go Out There And Hit A Six On My First Ball': Sanju Samson On His Approach

Sanju Samson led Rajasthan Royals played against Gujarat Titans in the 24th match of IPL 2024. The game took place on Wednesday, April 10th, at Jaipur’s Sawai Mansingh Stadium.

RR batted first after GT won the toss in the rain-delayed match. RR made a significant change in their lineup, replacing injured Nandre Burger with Kuldeep Sen. GT also made notable changes, bringing in Kane Williamson and BR Sharath in place of Matthew Wade and Abhinav Manohar.

Yashasvi Jaiswal attacked GT’s bowlers, scoring a brisk 24 runs before getting out. However, Jos Buttler failed again, dismissed by Rashid Khan for 8 runs. Skipper Sanju Samson and Riyan Parag stabilized RR’s innings with a remarkable 130-run partnership. Samson remained unbeaten, while Parag’s explosive knock of 76 runs ended in the 19th over. RR posted 196/3, with Parag scoring 76 off 48 balls and Samson contributing 68 off 38 balls.

GT’s opening pair, Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan, set a strong foundation with a 64-run partnership. Despite Gill’s impressive 72 runs, RR’s Keshav Maharaj and Yuzvendra Chahal almost secured victory. However, Rahul Tewatia and Rashid Khan’s efforts led GT to a thrilling 3-wicket win, halting RR’s IPL 2024 winning streak.

Sanju Samson Gave An Epic Reply To Where RR Lost The Match

Meanwhile, after the match, speaking at the post-match presentation, Sanju Samson was asked where Rajasthan Royals lost the match. To which, Sanju responded with a comically bizarre remark. He said:

“I think on the last ball of the game, Gujarat needed 2 runs and they won. Very hard to speak at the moment. Hardest job in the tournament when a captain loses the game and has to tell where the game was lost.”

Sanju Samson mentioned that he would have a clearer perspective on where Rajasthan Royals lost the match once he had time to settle his emotions. Nonetheless, he acknowledged the Gujarat Titans for their strong fight in the game. He said:

“When the emotions come down I’ll be able to tell clearly. Have to give credit to the Gujarat Titans. That’s the beauty of this tournament.”

Sanju Samson expressed confidence in winning the match after Rajasthan Royals posted a score of 196 runs, believing it to be a sufficient total for victory, considering their initial target was around 180 runs. He said:

“Will have to learn and move on. While I was batting I thought something around 180 would’ve been a fighting score. 196 was a winning score I thought. With no dew, our bowling lineup should’ve done it. It wasn’t easy to go hard at the start of the innings. 197 at Jaipur, without dew, we’ll take it any day.”
