The Asia Cup 2023 kicked off with a bang as the hosting nation Pakistan registered a stunning 238-run win over the debutants Nepal. The Men in Green are now all set to lock horns against India in a highly-anticipated clash on September 2 in Kandy. However, ahead of the high-voltage clash between the two arch-rivals, the happiness of Pakistan fans didn’t last too long as it was reported that the star pacer Shaheen Shah Afridi got injured in the first match.
Injury Scare Ahead Of IND vs PAK

During Pakistan vs. Nepal game Shaheen Afridi, surrounded by the team’s doctor and physiotherapist, was seen walking off the field; while the nature of his injury was not immediately clear, the episode did raise concerns among the Pakistan fans.
It has to be noted, that Afridi has recently marked his return from a knee injury earlier this year during the Pakistan Super League (PSL) in February. An integral part of the Pakistan squad, his presence is instrumental in the star-studded pace trio with Naseem Shah and Haris Rauf being the other two bowlers.

The commentators on-air, Andy Flower and Waqar Younis also looked concerned as Afridi stood near the boundary line with the doctor. Andy Flower had said: “If there’s a problem with Afridi, they should take him off. He’s a valuable asset for the Pakistan side,”
Waqar looked even more concerned about Afridi’s fitness. He said: “I don’t mind physio around a fast bowler at third man or fine leg. But when the doctor comes, that’s when it gets a little worrying. Shaheen has both of them around him,”
