Just days after India’s young keeper-batter Rishabh Pant suffered a horrific car accident, an old video featuring veteran Indian batter Shikhar Dhawan went insanely viral on social media, where he had advised Pant to drive slowly.
On December 30, Pant suffered a grave accident on National Highway 58 after he “dozed off” a bit while driving and crashed his Mercedes into a divider, while he was on his way to surprise his mother and celebrate the new year with her. After colliding with the divider, the car flipped multiple times before catching fire. Thankfully, Pant managed to escape before the car burst into flames with the help of a few locals.
Pant is currently recovering from the multiple injuries that he suffered during the accident and has been ruled out of the upcoming edition of the Indian Premier League because of the same.
Talking about the clip of Dhawan that went viral on the internet following his accident, was shot when Dhawan was teammates with Pant at Delhi Capitals (DC) in the Indian Premier League (IPL). In the video, Dhawan, who shares a close bond with Pant, can be seen advising Pant to drive slowly.
Shikhar Dhawan Recalled His Advice To Rishabh Pant
Recently, in an interview, Shikhar Dhawan recalled the same interview and revealed how he had seen Pant drive earlier and urged him to drive carefully. He also expressed his delight that Pant managed to survive the car crash and also revealed that he is in regular contact with him. He said:
“I saw him drive once, I am happy that Rishabh managed to survive that accident. He is recovering well. I keeep talking to him. I saw him drive once and told him to drive cars slowly. I didn’t even remember that interview, I don’t know how it cropped up on social media,”
He added: “I spoke my heart that day. But when you are 20-21, you have that exra enthusiasm in your life… it’s not like Rishabh drove his car rashly, at that age, I have also driven rashly. Many others would have done the same. At these times, you have to keep your adrenaline rush in check, it’s important. Yes, I did give him advice,”
