Team India’s star opener Shikhar Dhawan is sweating it out ahead of the upcoming 2022 edition of the Indian Premier League. He is all set to kickstart his new IPL stint with the Punjab Kings franchise in the upcoming season of IPL.
Shikhar was released by Delhi Capitals ahead of the IPL 2022 mega-auctions and was later roped in by the Punjab Kings franchise for a sum of INR 8.25 crores at the IPL 2022 mega-auction.
Ahead of the league, Shikhar has given himself a big target this season. The star opener is eyeing to make a comeback in the Indian national cricket team by making big in IPL 2022.
In an interview with TOI, Dhawan said: “The T20 World Cup is coming. I know that if I do well in the IPL, I can get into the side. I am a very process-driven person. I am confident of doing well in the IPL. And if I do that, I will have a chance to make the World Cup squad”,
Speaking to ANI in an interview, Shikhar Dhawan also talked about his new role under the captaincy of Mayank Agarwal, who will be making his captaincy debut in the upcoming season. Talking about the same, he said:
“I am looking very positive. Playing under Mayank will be good for me, we have a strong team all youngsters are very good and talented we hope we will do something big this time, also if get chance to open with Mayank then it will be so good for me because it will be a big responsibility and I am ready to handle it,”
Meanwhile, the upcoming IPL 2022 is all set to kickstart from March 26th with the final showdown scheduled for May 29th. The league stage of the tournament will be hosted in Maharashtra across 4 venues. A total of 70 games will be played between 10 franchises.
Talking about Punjab Kings, the Mayank Agarwal-led team will kickstart their IPL 2022 schedule on 27th March and will take on RCB in 1st match followed by a game against KKR.
