Shikhar Dhawan Penned Special Messages For Indian Players After Getting Ignored By Selectors: The Indian cricket team kickstarted the 3-match ODI series against the West Indies on a superb note by winning the series opener by 5 wickets. It was indeed a positive start for team India in preparation for the ODI World Cup 2023 in October.
The Indian bowlers did an amazing job as they bundled up the Windies batters for just 114 runs in 23 overs after Rohit Sharma won the toss and invited the hosts to bat first in Barbados, after inviting them to bat first. Kuldeep Yadav, was the pick of the bowlers for team India as he claimed four wickets for six runs in three overs and won the Player of the Match for his performance. Ravindra Jadeja also got rid of 3 batters for 37 runs in 6 overs.
Chasing the target, Shubman Gill walked out to open the innings with young Ishan Kishan. Team India themselves faced some trouble keeping their wickets intact as the wickets kept falling at regular intervals. However, they somehow managed to chase down the target. Rohit Sharma, who walked out to bat at number 7, finished the job for his team with Ravindra Jadeja at the other end by hitting a four in the 23rd over.

Meanwhile, Indian cricketer Shikhar Dhawan took to his Twitter account and expressed his admiration for two standout performers in the first ODI between India and the West Indies. In his first Tweet, he congratulated Kuldeep Yadav and praised him for his outstanding bowling. He wrote:

In another tweet, Shikhar Dhawan praised Mukesh Kumar for getting his first wicket in his debut ODI match in another Tweet. Shikhar Dhawan was really impressed with Mukesh’s performance and he urged him to keep working hard and to be committed to his word to shine brightly in the future. He wrote:

Talking about Shikhar Dhawan, the veteran hasn’t made any appearance in the blue jersey since December 10, 2022 when he played against Bangaldesh. Despite missing the recent Test, ODI, and T20 series against the West Indies, Dhawan could return for the Asia Cup in August and can even make it to the World Cup squad. Dhawan’s experience as a sucessful batter in ICC tournament may be preferred over Gill’s recent struggles.
