Shoaib Akhtar Adds A New Joke To POK Premier League: Pakistan Occupied Kashmir Premier League has been making a lot of news lately, however, for all the wrong reasons. The league is being organized with the “blessings” of PCB on Pakistan Occupied Kashmir, which is a restive territory that belongs to India but has been forcibly occupied by Pakistan almost since it came into being.

POK has always been a matter of dispute between both countries and this is the reason why Pakistan Occupied Kashmir Premier League is getting criticized. There have always been political tensions between India and Pakistan regarding POK ever since the subsequent partition. The dispute has also affected cricket.

Infact, the dispute between both the countries over Pakistan Occupied Kashmir is one of the major reasons why India and Pakistan have not played a single bilateral series since 2012-13.

Well, in the recent past, the cricket boards of India and Pakistan have not shared good relations. However, this controversy over Pakistan Occupied Kashmir Premier League has worsened the situation as it is creating a battle between the Board of Control and the Pakistan Cricket Board.

There were reports that the BCCI has warned cricketers to stay away from POKPL. Following which as many as 6 foreign cricketers have excused themselves from the league. On Saturday, PCB also warned India that they would take up the matter with the ICC. Later on, the BCCI slammed PCB and called them “confused”. The BCCI official clarified that the Indian board is within its right in making cricketing decisions in its country and welcomed PCB to take the matter to the ICC.

While, the war of words is going on between the two cricket boards of two countries,  former Pakistan cricketer Shoaib Akhtar has added another joke into Pakistan Occupied Kashmir Premier League.

Akhtar has taken a stand for the tournament and has posted a tweet, where he said that he will be joining the league as its Peace Ambassador. Yes, you read that right.

“Why such a fuss between @kpl_20 & BCCI. It’s about building bridges and promoting peace. Really appreciate all of you for the trend #ShoaibAkhtarPeaceAmbassador So I’ll be joining as Peace Ambassador for KPL :)”,
