India’s star pacer Mohammed Siraj created history as he became the first Indian bowler to pick four wickets in an over. He rattled the batting line-up of Sri Lanka with his lethal bowling after a rain-delayed start in the Asia Cup 2023 final match on Sunday.

During the Asia Cup 2023 final against Sri Lanka, Mohammed Siraj picked a total of six wickets, limiting the Dasun Shanaka-led team to a mere fifty runs in 15.2 overs, positioning India on the verge of victory in the Asia Cup final.
All thanks to Siraj’s heroics, Sri Lanka was bowled out in 15.2 overs after they elected to bat first in Colombo, however, Siraj wreaked havoc and returned with the figures of 6.21, which was also the second-best figures in the Asia Cup 2023. He made his dance of destruction in the 4th over (3.1, 3.3, 3.4, and 3.6 balls). The victims of his destructive bowling were Pathum Nissanka, Sadeera Samaraiwickrama, Charith Asalanka, and Dhananjaya De Silva.

After the match, talking to the broadcasters, Siraj expressed his happiness on achieving the rare feat. He said: “Feels like a dream. Last time I did the same against Sri Lanka at Trivandrum. Got four wickets early, couldn’t get the five-for. Realised you get what’s in your destiny. Did not try too much today.”
He added: “I have always looked for swing in white-ball cricket. Did not find much in the previous games. But today it was swinging, and I got more wickets with the outswinger. Wanted to make the batters drive.”
