Indian middle-order batter Shreyas Iyer was spotted dancing after his team Mumbai defeated Vidarbha in the final of the Ranji Trophy at Wankhede Stadium on Thursday. Ajinkya Rahane-led Mumbai defeated Vidarbha by 169 runs to clinch their 42nd Ranji title.
It has to be noted that Shreyas Iyer scored 7 and 95 in the final. However, he made amends by scoring 95 runs in the second innings. He and Musheer shared a big stand of 168 runs for the fourth wicket.

On Day Four of the Ranji Trophy final, Shreyas Iyer, aged 29, remained sidelined and unable to take the field for the entire day. According to reports from TOI, Iyer underwent a back scan at a hospital, shedding light on the severity of his injury. This development raises concerns about his potential participation in future matches, including the upcoming IPL tournament.
Fans were left disappointed with the news of Shreyas’ back issue, however, the middle-order batter appeared to be in high spirits after the game, celebrating Mumbai’s triumph with enthusiasm. Amidst the fans playing the ‘dhol’ in the stands, the Mumbai star joined in the festivities, showcasing his dance moves to the tunes. Shreyas Iyer recently suffered a couple of big setbacks in his cricketing career. He was dropped from the Indian Test squad after the 2nd Test match of the recently-concluded 5-match series against the England cricket team. Shreyas failed to meet the expectations in the Two Tests, registering scores of 35, 13, 27, and 29.
Shreyas Iyer suffered another blow when the BCCI terminated his central contract. The BCCI took this bold step after Iyer ignored the BCCI’s directive to play in the Ranji Trophy tournament. Along with Shreyas Iyer, the BCCI also decided to terminate the contract of Ishan Kishan for the same reason.
With the conclusion of the Ranji Trophy, Shreyas Iyer will be joining the Kolkata Knight Riders camp to prepare for IPL 2024, which is scheduled to be played from March 22. Having missed the entire season last year due to a back injury, Iyer will be eager to make a strong comeback and contribute to a successful campaign. KKR is scheduled to kick off their season against Sunrisers Hyderabad on March 23.
