The last couple of months have been just stunning for Shubman Gill. The 23-year-old registered his maiden Test ton in Bangladesh in December; in January, he hit his maiden ODI double century, and today, February 1st, Gill smashed his maiden T20I century- against New Zealand at the iconic Narendra Modi Stadium.

Before this match, Shubman Gill averaged only 15 in only 5 T20Is, and with Prithvi Shaw on the bench, there were doubts whether Gill could replicate his success from the other two formats into T20Is.

He proved to everyone that he can. And did it in a spectacular fashion, in front of a raucous Ahmedabad crowd, and in the stands was also seated the legendary Indian batsman Sachin Tendulkar.

Shubman Gill became only the fifth Indian batsman to register centuries in all three formats:

23-year-old Shubman Gill cracked his maiden T20I ton, and became only the 5th Indian batsman to hit centuries in all the three international formats, joining the elite list.

Former India batsman Suresh Raina was the first Indian to hit three-figure scores across the three formats.

Openers Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul were next, followed by Virat Kohli, who only last year hit his maiden T20I ton.

Hundreds in all three formats for India:

Suresh Raina

Rohit Sharma

KL Rahul

Virat Kohli

Shubman Gill

Shubman Gill finished the innings at 126*(63) – which is also now the highest T20I score by an Indian batsman, surpassing Virat Kohli’s 112* vs Afghanistan from last year’s Asia Cup and Rohit Sharma’s 118 vs Sri Lanka from 2017.

Gill’s belligerent century included 12 fours and 7 gigantic sixes as he batted at a strike rate of exactly 200, scoring 126* off 63 balls. Courtesy of this fantastic hundred from the opener Shubman Gill, and other quickfire knocks from Rahul Tripathi, Suryakumar Yadav, and Hardik Pandya, India finished with a massive total of 234.
