IND vs ENG: Fans Are Trolling Shubman Gill After He Was Dismissed For 2-Ball Duck

Shubman Gill, who was recently honored with the Polly Umrigar Award at the BCCI Awards, had a tough time in the ongoing first Test against England. In the fourth innings at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Hyderabad, he was dismissed for a duck. India is currently chasing a target of 231 runs after England posted 420 in the third innings, taking a lead of 230 runs.

Gill’s performance in Hyderabad was disappointing, scoring 23 in the first innings and getting out for a duck in the second.

Shubman Gill has been struggling with his form in the longest format of the game since the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023. In 21 Test matches, he has scored 1063 runs at an average of 29.53, including four half-centuries and two centuries.

Ollie Pope dominated the day with a splendid innings of 196 runs from 278 balls, offering crucial momentum to England’s innings. Starting at 316 for 6, Pope’s exceptional batting made it challenging for the Indian bowlers to make a significant impact. His stellar performance played a vital role in setting a competitive target for England on the scoreboard.

As the second innings commenced, India was confronted with the challenging task of chasing down 231 runs to establish a 1-0 lead in the five-match series. The importance of building solid partnerships became apparent as the Indian team embarked on what appeared to be an intriguing chase.

The critical moment unfolded in the 12th over when Tom Hartley had a substantial impact by dismissing both Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shubman Gill.

Shubman Gill, India’s No.3, has struggled in red-ball cricket, despite performing well in ODIs with an average of 61.38 and a strike rate of 103. Translating his success in white-ball cricket to the red-ball format has challenged Gill in Test matches.

Meanwhile, fans on social media were left disappointed with yet another failure of Shubman Gill. Social media has been buzzing with memes and tweets from fans, expressing their disappointment with Gill’s performance.
