Simon Doull Reveals Why MS Dhoni Will Not Play Full Season

Simon Doull Reveals Why MS Dhoni Will Not Play Full Season: The upcoming IPL 2022 Mega Auction has become one of the most discussed topics in the cricket fraternity right now. From fans, cricketers, experts to pundits, everyone is busy giving their views on which players should be retained by a franchise and which players should be released by the franchises ahead of the mega auction.

The BCCI has given IPL franchises a window until November 30 to finalize the names of the players they’ve retained ahead of the mega-auction. While everyone is busy discussing and guessing the names of the cricketers franchises have retained, legendary skipper MS Dhoni is one of the biggest names in the discussion.

Chennai Super Kings will be heading into the 2022 edition of the Indian Premier League as the defending champions and it will be a difficult task for them to retain only four players from their current champion squad.

The rumors of CSK retaining the likes of MS Dhoni, Ravindra Jadeja, and Ruturaj Gaikwad have been floating around for a while. With Sam Curran, Faf du Plessis, and Moeen Ali being in the fray, the franchise is reportedly divided over its 4th retention. The BCCI has allowed only a maximum of 4 retentions to be made.

Interestingly, former New Zealand fast bowler Simon Doull recently made a big statement about the Chennai Super Kings’ skipper MS Dhoni. Well, while discussing the retentions of Chennai Super Kings’ Simon Doull said that Dhoni might not play a full season in the upcoming IPL 2022 and might retire after playing the last game in Chennai.

Simon feels Faf du Plessis will take over the captaincy from MS Dhoni after Dhoni takes the big call. He said:

“To bring MS beside to play his final game and Faf du Plessis will take over the captaincy in IPL in April-May next year. So that’s my thinking and I don’t think MS will play the full season, I think Faf will take over at some stage through the season. But I think there will be a home game, where they announce it will be his last game and Faf will take over the captaincy after that,”

For the unversed, recently, at a CSK event, MS Dhoni had confirmed that his last T20 game will be in Chennai, putting his IPL retirement speculations to rest. Dhoni had said: “I have always planned my cricket. My last ODI in India was in Ranchi. Hopefully, my last T20 will be in Chennai. Whether it’s next year or in five years’ time, I don’t know,”
