Former India captain and the current BCCI President Sourav Ganguly is “not worried at all” about the disappointing batting form in the ongoing IPL 2022 of two of India’s stalwarts and key men – Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli.

Rohit Sharma, the India and Mumbai Indians skipper, has had starts in a number of innings but has failed to convert it into a big total. The opener has scored 218 runs in 12 games at an average of 18 and a strike rate of 125, recording a best of 43; 7 other Mumbai Indians batters have managed a better average than Rohit this season.

Kohli, on the other hand, has had it even worse. Even though he’s managed more runs and average than Rohit – 236 runs at 19 in 13 innings – he’s struggled to get going at the start of his innings and has scored at a lowly strike rate of 113. Eight of Kohli’s 13 knocks have been of less than 15; his half-century came at a poor strike rate of 109.

With another T20 World Cup looming, in Australia this time, the form of the two senior men, one current captain and another former captain, is concerning for the fans. But not for the BCCI boss.

Ganguly asserted that both Rohit and Kohli are too big a players to have a prolonged dismal form. He also pointed out that there’s still plenty of time for the T20 World Cup and expressed confidence in the two-star batters to get back in their best form as the tournament approaches.

“I’m not worried at all about the form of Rohit or Virat. They are too good…real big players. The World Cup is far away and I am quite confident that they will be in top shape much before the tournament,” Sourav Ganguly told Mid-Day.

Following the IPL 2022, apart from the Test and ODIs, India have T20I series lined up against South Africa, Ireland, England, and West Indies.
