Delhi Capitals’ skipper, Rishabh Pant, is gearing up to return to action as the Indian Premier League (IPL 2024) approaches. With the excitement building up, Pant is eagerly awaiting his chance to hit the field once again. According to Sourav Ganguly, Pant is set to rejoin the Delhi Capitals camp on March 5th, pending clearance from the National Cricket Academy (NCA).
Sourav Ganguly Revealed Rishabh Pant’s Comeback Date
Speaking to The Times Of India, Sourav Ganguly said: “He has done everything to get fit and that’s the reason NCA will clear him. Let Rishabh get cleared on Mar 5 only then we’ll talk about captaincy backups. We are taking a cautious approach with him because he has a very long career ahead of him. We don’t want to push him in excitement.”
Previously, it was said that Pant would be a key player, making a big impact. However, he won’t be taking on the role of wicketkeeper due to his knee injuries. Instead, he’ll focus solely on batting. Pant, known for his aggressive left-handed batting, needs time to recover from ligament tears in both knees. Despite this, he’ll continue leading the Delhi Capitals team as their captain.

Sourav Ganguly also mentioned that Delhi Capitals have several wicketkeeping options in their squad. Regarding the captaincy, they will make a decision based on the circumstances. He said:
“We will see how Rishabh reacts. He will be joining the camp once NCA gives him the clearance. We will see match by match. We can’t predict. As for wicketkeeping options, there’s Kumar Kushagra. Ricky Bhui has had a very good season. There is Shai Hope and Tristan Stubbs,”
