Sunrisers Hyderabad opener Abhishek Sharma has landed in hot waters as he has reportedly been called in by the Surat police for questioning in the case of a 28-year-old Surat-based model’s suicide.
Tania Singh, who resided in the Happy Elegance Apartment on Vesu Road in Surat, died by suicide on February 20, and Abhishek Sharma’s name was immediately linked with her. Tania was a fashion designer and model for the past two years.
The police were quick to launch an investigation and promptly got her phone records. It has been learned that the last message from her mobile before she took her life was sent to Abhishek Sharma, who was until February 19 playing for Punjab in the Ranji Trophy. The text went unresponded.

Surat Police’s ACP V.R. Malhotra told AajTak that they have received the CD-R report of Tania Singh, who hails from Hyderabad.
The police will send a notice to Abhishek and tell him to come for questioning in the coming days. Abhishek Sharma’s number was found in the call details of Tania’s phone, on the evidence of which he will be summoned for questioning to the police station.
This case has hogged a lot of limelight on national media and newspapers due to the involvement of a renowned IPL star. Abhishek Sharma has been part of the IPL since 2018; he was first with Delhi in 2018, and since 2019, he has been part of SRH, the Kavya Maran-owned franchise.
The left-hander has been a regular player for SRH in the last two seasons. He had a breakthrough tournament in 2022, when he scored over 400 runs, but fell off the cliff last season, managing less than 250 runs.
