Stephen Fleming Receives New Zealand Call-Up Ahead Of IPL 2024

The New Zealand cricket team is looking to bolster its coaching staff ahead of the T20 World Cup 2024. Reports from the New Zealand Herald suggest that Stephen Fleming and Shane Bond are being considered to join the national team for the upcoming ICC tournament.

Despite their consistency in ICC events across white-ball formats, New Zealand has often fallen short of securing trophies, despite reaching the semi-finals in the past four major tournaments.

For the upcoming 2024 T20 World Cup, New Zealand may not be considered among the favorites as they have been in previous competitions. To improve their chances, the Kiwis are looking to strengthen their coaching department ahead of the event in the Caribbean and the USA in June.

Gary Stead, the current head coach, received a two-year extension in 2023, ensuring stability in overseeing the team’s operations from the support staff’s perspective. However, to further enhance the success of the national cricket team, the Black Caps are looking to bring in experienced figures like Stephen Fleming and Shane Bond.

New Zealand aims to strengthen its coaching staff for the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024. Reports suggest that Stephen Fleming and Shane Bond could join the national team. However, their current commitments in various T20 leagues might pose challenges. Fleming, known for his coaching success in franchise cricket, has led teams like Chennai Super Kings.

Bond, a former Blackcaps bowling coach, has coaching experience with teams like Mumbai Indians. Gary Stead leads the Blackcaps as head coach, with Luke Ronchi as assistant. Former players like Ian Bell and James Foster have also contributed to the team’s coaching setup in the past.

New Zealand is scheduled to play against Pakistan in their upcoming international matches. The first three T20Is of the series will take place in Rawalpindi on April 18, April 20, and April 21. The remaining matches are set for April 25 and April 27 at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.
