Steve Harmison Slams Virat Kohli Over His Treatment Of Ravi Ashwin

Former England fast bowler Steve Harmison took a massive dig at Virat Kohli, while discussing India’s squad for the upcoming tour of South Africa. Harmison, who is very active on his Youtube channel, said that picking a team on the basis of logic and how Virat Kohli picks his team, are two opposite things.

Steve Harmison, who took 226 Test wickets for England in 43 matches, said that Indian all-rounder Ravichandran Ashwin shouldn’t have missed the amount of cricket in England.

“The problem I find in predicting this Indian side is… there’s logic and then there’s Kohli’s idea of what the team should be. Who on earth would have thought that Ashwin would have missed so much cricket against England? You can never what Virat Kohli wants… what he is trying or his thinking process is,” Steve Harmison said on his YouTube channel.

Talking about India’s selection for the massive tour of South Africa, Harmison also added that he wouldn’t be surprised if India decides to drop Shreyas Iyer and Mayank Agarwal, and give another chance to their out of form batter Ajinkya Rahane.

“You would think the 2 young guys in Iyer and Agarwal would be going to South Africa on the back of scoring 100s in this series, it wouldn’t surprise me if Rahane and Pujara plays and wouldn’t surprise me if Ashwin doesn’t play,” Steve Harmison added.

Harmison also said that India should play with their all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin because Ashwin is way too skilful a bowler to be dropped on any wicket in the world. It was another jibe at how Virat Kohli picks his team in overseas conditions.

“Jadeja is important for this team with Pant at No. 6 and 7. Even though Axar can bat and so can Ashwin. But Jadeja bats nicely at 7 and I still think there is room for one more spinner. The skill level for Ashwin is as good as any seam bowler would bowl on any seam-friendly wicket,” added Harmison.
