Australia’s batting superstar Steve Smith hailed England’s all-rounder Ben Stokes’ stunning knock of 155-run after the Australian cricket team defeated England in the second Ashes Test at Lord’s and secured a 2-0 lead in the five-match series.
Ben Stokes Played A Memorable Knock

Ben Stokes gave it all to keep his side in the game on Day 5 of the just-concluded second Ashes Test at Lord’s, however, his side fell short of 43 runs to equal the ongoing series. Stokes once again stood up for his team when it mattered, playing mesmerizing innings that could have gone down as one of the greatest in Test cricket history.
Stokes walked out to bat when his side lost four quick wickets and found themselves reeling at 45/4 while chasing the target of 371 runs. However, he kept calm and displayed some stunning shots.
Ben Stokes reached his century in a stylish way by smashing three back-to-back sixes off Cameron Green. He put the opposition under pressure with his batting prowess. He was dismissed after scoring 155 runs off 214 balls, smashing 9 fours and 9 sixes.
During his innings, he was given a lifeline by Smith, who dropped his catch. Later, after the match, Steve Smith admitted that he felt guilty for dropping the catch of Stokes before the England Test captain perished in the second session.
Smith also hailed Ben Stokes as an ‘unbelievable player, a freak’. He said:
“Stokes is an unbelievable player, a freak, with the things he can pull off. We have seen it numerous times chasing totals, it was an incredible knock. I dropped him and was feeling it for a while. Thankfully, he hit one up the chimney,”
However, despite his heroic efforts, England fell short of a few runs from registering a remarkable comeback victory.
