Sunil Gavaskar Backed Indian Batsmen: The 3rd Day of the first-Test match between India and Australia turned out to be no less than a nightmare for team India. Team India’s batting line-up was shattered into pieces within one hour by the powerful performance by the Australian bowlers.

On Day 3, the Australian bowlers sent the Indian batsmen to all cleaners, as they picked nine wickets in just two hours to dismiss India for just 36 runs.

While the Indian cricket team has found itself at the receiving end of criticism and trolling, with several cricketers and pundits criticizing the performance of team India. However, former Indian skipper Sunil Gavaskar has backed the Indian batsmen, while stating that it is not fair to blame the Indian batsmen for their dismissal.

During an interaction with Channel 7 on Saturday came out in support of the Indian batting line-up. However, he was all praises for the Australian bowlers for putting on a stellar show against India. To their credit, Josh Hazlewood claimed magical figures of 5/8 while Pat Cummins registered the figures of 4/21. Praising the Australian bowlers,  Gavaskar said:

“Maybe be not all-out for 36, maybe 72 or 80-90 but the way Hazlewood, Cummins bowled and the earlier 3-over spell from Starc, they asked a lot of questions. So it’s not fair to blame the Indian batsmen for the way they got out because it was just simply superb bowling by the Australian bowlers”

Sunil Gavaskar also stated that any team on the international front would have skittled out while facing such high-quality pace bowling. He said:

“I mean, any team that is all-out for its lowest test score since the time it started playing cricket, that’s never good to see. But having said that, if any other team had been facing that kind of bowling, they would have also got out.”

Meanwhile, both the teams will collide again on December 26 for the Boxing Day Test in Melbourne, where the visitors will be without the service of their skipper Virat Kohli, as he will be flying back to Mumbai to be with his wife Anushka Sharma during the birth of their first child.
