Former Indian cricketer Sunil Gavaskar praised young batsman Dhruv Jurel for his impressive performance in the fourth Test match between India and England. Gavaskar also compared Jurel’s quick thinking to that of former Indian captain and wicketkeeper MS Dhoni.
Dhruv Jurel showcased his talent with a remarkable innings during India’s first innings against England at the JSCA International Stadium in Ranchi. The right-handed batsman achieved his maiden half-century in Test cricket, making a valuable contribution to India’s total of 307.
Despite being dismissed for 90 runs by Tom Hartley on the third day of the match, Jurel earned praise from across the cricketing world for his performance.

Sunil Gavaskar praised Dhruv Jurel for his impressive batting and excellent wicketkeeping skills. He emphasized Jurel’s game intelligence and clever cricketing abilities, suggesting that he has the potential to become another MS Dhoni in the future. He said:
“Of course, he has batted well, but his keeping, his work behind the stumps has been equally brilliant. Just by looking at his game awareness, I want to say that he is another MS Dhoni in the making. I know there can never be another MSD but you know the presence of mind that he has, MSD also when he started, it was that. And Jurel has that game awareness. Street-smart cricketer,”
Jurel and Kuldeep united on the pitch with India behind England by 176 runs. Their partnership of 76 runs for the eighth wicket was crucial, reducing the deficit to under 100. Jurel later teamed up with No. 10 Akash Deep for another valuable 40-run partnership.
Meanwhile, Kuldeep Yadav contributed 28 runs off 131 balls before being dismissed by James Anderson, who secured his 698th Test wicket for England.
At the Lunch break, Gavaskar praised Dhruv Jurel’s batting prowess, suggesting he could achieve more centuries in the future if he sustains his current form. He expressed belief in Jurel’s abilities, foreseeing him as a potential superstar for India. Gavaskar said:
