Sunil Gavaskar Gives A Strong Reminder To Virat Kohli

Former India captain and batting great Sunil Gavaskar has said that there’s no need for any advice to Virat Kohli, who has been struggling for runs and a big score in the ongoing IPL 2021. In fact, Gavaskar felt that only some bad luck has been stopping Kohli from scoring this season and nothing else.

After 13 innings – including the one versus Punjab Kings on Friday – Kohli still averages below 20 – 19.66 – at a strike rate of 113; as many as six other RCB batters average better than the former captain. Kohli has bagged three golden ducks and 6 single-digit scores; his only fifty of the season so far came at a poor strike rate of 109.

Sunil Gavaskar said that Kohli has seen it all and has been one of the most successful batsmen in the game, but only needs some luck on his side. He stressed the misfortunes of Virat Kohli, pointing out the first-ball duck dismissal vs SRH.

“What can you tell him? He has got 70 international hundred. There is no advice to give him. Luck needs to change,” said Gavaskar to Star Sports in the pre-match show.
“Apart from the opposition, every other person wants to see him score runs. There are very few more attractive players in the game than Kohli in the game. When he gets going, the cut shots, the pull shots, the drives, everything is brilliant. It’s a matter of luck just going his way.
“The other day [vs SRH], he played uppishly and it went straight to the fielder. On another day, the fielder could have been 5 yards to the left or right, it could have been a boundary. When luck is not going his way, your first mistake will get you out. Just hope luck runs his way and then he will be back among scoring the big runs,” the batting legend added.
Against Punjab, once again,
Kohli bemoaned his luck as, after getting off to a good start, stroking a couple of fours and a six, a ball from Rabada under brushed his glove and hit his thigh pad and lobbed straight to the short fine leg fielder.
On his way back to the dugout, after scoring 20 runs off 14 balls, Kohli was seen looking up in the sky with his hands spread, complaining and pleading for some luck to god.
