T20 World Cup 2022: Here’s Why Yuzvendra Chahal Should Be Included in India’s Playing XI

Team India has o far done a decent job with the ball in their arms. They have managed to keep Pakistan and Netherlands at bay. Now here is a catch. Pakistan probably had a fine top order but its middle order was frail and untested. Hence, when India attacked, they had no response whatsoever.

The Netherlands, on the contrary, are minnows of the game and no matter the resurgence, they would be able to deliver very little on the bigger platforms, especially when a team like India is charging full steam at them. However, against Pakistan, if there is one thing that was noticed is that the Men in Blue let their counterparts slip from the stranglehold that was imposed halfway in the innings when Pandya struck a couple of blows in quick succession. This is probably where India is missing out on Yuvzvendra Chahal. Here are three reasons why Chahal should be a part of the T20 World Cup.

#1 A wrist spinner is not easy to be hit with such huge boundaries

Playing a wrist spinner is never easy, especially when the boundaries are as big as that of the Australian grounds. One has to be very careful of his shot selection while the others need to be keen on watching which route are they resorting to. Chahal, is particularly a very enigmatic bowler and somehow can drift his ball according to the requirements of the game. He can be a proper wicket-taker, especially with the batters trying to go big against the spinners.

#2 Experienced campaigner in the death

This year’s IPL showed us that a spinner as good as Chahal can turn the tables in one’s favor in the final overs, which is usually a pacer’s forte. He is an experienced warrior and is known for exploiting the loopholes that are a game-changer. With Axar still to hit his stride at his fullest swing, maybe when South Africa comes knocking with so many fine players of pace in their side, Chahal can be an exciting addition to the Indian squad.

#3 Can strangulate the runs in the middle overs

With the number of runs on free flow in the middle overs, a team prepares for a grander finish in the slog overs. However, with the fear of losing wickets, Chahal can actually put a hold on the momentum of runs as the batters would hardly commit to those momentous strikes with the fielders stationed in the deep. With a good mix of pace in his arsenal, Yuzi can be an x-factor that India is already missing out on, maybe?
