Team India’s star batters Virat Kohli and Suryakumar Yadav have been shortlisted for the Player of the Tournament in the ongoing T20 World Cup 2022. On Friday, the International Cricket Council (ICC) announced a list of 9 nominees for the Player of the Tournament that included the names of Indian superstars — Virat Kohli and Suryakumar Yadav.
After a rollercoaster journey in the ongoing T20 World Cup 2022, England and Pakistan have advanced to the final clash, which is scheduled to be played on November 13 at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.
The player of the tournament nominees list is comprised of nine outstanding individuals, who were all impressed with their performances and helped their sides win the games. Two players from India, two from Pakistan, three players from England, and each from Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe have also made it to the list of nominees.
Talking about the Indian players, Virat Kohli and Suryakumar Yadav played crucial roles in the success of the Indian cricket team in the T20 World Cup 2022 before they were knocked out of the semi-final stage. Virat is the leading run-getter in the marquee tournament, having scored 296 runs at a mind-boggling average of 98.66 in six games. His runs also came at a respectable rate of 136.40. He amassed four half-centuries, including a historic 82* against Pakistan.
On the other hand, Suryakumar Yadav played some of the best innings of his career. He is the second-highest run-getter with 239 runs in six games while striking out at an astonishing 189.68 percent. He also recorded three fifties, which came against Zimbabwe, South Africa, and the Netherlands.
