Last night, we witnessed a thrilling start to the playoffs and this Sunday, another exciting and entertaining season of Indian Premier League will come to an end. However, this season by far was one of the most entertaining seasons of the league and what made this season more entertaining was the way teams were competing each other to qualify for the playoffs.
While Mumbai Indians had to make a disappointing exit from the game, on the other hand, Rajasthan Royals were qualified for the playoffs unexpectedly. But do you know how many times, before this season Mumbai Indians made it to the playoffs?

Chennai Super Kings is the only team which has always made it to the playoffs in every tournament they have played. As they were banned for 2 years, the team has played in 9 tournaments and have qualified for the playoffs every time. They are also, the two times winner of the tournament.
2. Sunrisers Hyderabad:

Sunrisers Hyderabad came into action in the year 2012, which means the team has only played in 6 tournaments. Out of 6 the team has qualified for playoffs 4 times, including this season. They have also won the tournament in they year 2016.
3. Mumbai Indians:

The three times winner of the tournament, is one of the most successful team of the tournament. They team has played in 11 seasons, out of which the team made it to the playoffs 7 times and even won the trophy thrice (2013, 2015, 2017). However, this time, the team failed to qualify for the playoffs.
4. Kings XI Punjab:

The Kings XI Punjab have been playing since the first season but has only made it to the playoffs twice. Yes, the team qualified for the playoffs only twice in 11 years.
5. Kolkata Knight Riders:

Kolkata Knight Riders have won the trophy of the tournament twice (2012, 2014). They have been playing since the first season of IPL and have made it to the playoffs 6 times, including this year.
6. Rajasthan Royals:

Rajasthan Royals have only won a single tournament which was the inaugural season of IPL. The team was banned for two years, which means the team has played in only 9 seasons, out of which, the team made it to the playoffs 4 times, including this season.
7. Royal Challengers Bangalore:

Royal Challengers Bangalore has been playing since the first season but has not won the tournament even for a single time. However, the team has made it to the playoffs 5 times but lost all the tournaments to other teams. This time the team wasn’t even able to make it to the playoffs.
8. Delhi Daredevils:

Delhi Daredevils were the first team to get eliminated in this season. The team has been playing since season one but has not won the tournament even for a single time. However, the team has made it to the playoffs three times out of the 11 times they have played.
