There’s A Clear Rift Between MS Dhoni And Ravindra Jadeja

Former India skipper and the current Chennai Super Kings captain – MS Dhoni turned 41 on July 7th, 2022. Dhoni had retired from international cricket in 2020 but has led CSK in the last two IPL seasons and has also confirmed to lead them next year.

A magician on the field and a charming presence off it, Dhoni has touched millions of lives in his storied journey. Wishes have been pouring in for the legendary cricketer since the clock ticked 12 midnight on Thursday.

Is there friction between Dhoni and Jadeja?

The Chennai Super Kings’ social media handle uploaded a heartfelt video in which several of their cricketers wish the ‘Thala’ a very happy birthday. The video comprised messages from the likes of Dwayne Bravo, who sang a song, others included Deepak Chahar, Mukesh Choudhary, Devon Conway, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Chris Jordan, Robin Uthappa, Dwaine Pretorious, Ambati Rayudu, Shivam Dube, Moeen Ali, N Jagadeesan, Maheesh Theekshana, etc.

However, one big name from the CSK squad that was missing in the video was former skipper Ravindra Jadeja! This has further added to the rift rumours between Jadeja and Dhoni and the franchise.

The absence of Jadeja in this video was conspicuous; in fact, at the time of writing, by the evening of July 7, Jadeja hasn’t posted a birthday wish for Dhoni yet neither on his Twitter nor on his Instagram.

Fans speculated tension between Jadeja and Dhoni; there had been plenty of reports about Jadeja being unhappy with the franchise when he had to give up the captaincy mid-season in IPL 2022 after the team’s failures.

Now, a no-wish from Jadeja to the talismanic skipper has further added fuel to such talks.

Here are some of the tweets from fans, pondering tension between Dhoni and Jadeja:

Before the start of the IPL 2022, Dhoni had given the captaincy to Jadeja but the all-rounder “stepped down” mid-season owing to the team’s and his own dismal performance, handing the reins back to Dhoni.

The 41-year-old had confirmed that he will continue to lead CSK next year as well; but now there is a doubt of Jadeja’s future at the franchise.
