Cricket is the gentleman’s game but a lot of players don’t seem to think so. The sport has seen some hot-heads who have really shown aggression to another level. Here are the ten angriest cricketers of all time:
Ricky Ponting
Probably one of the most aggressive players to have played the game, Ponting is someone who really exhibited heightened levels of anger when required. Ponting is known to have been an intimidating person on the field and his talent with the bat just made him even scarier.
Curtly Ambrose
Anyone at 6 foot 7 inches is already an imposing figure, but if he can come at you for a fight, you know you’re in trouble. Steve Waugh swore at him once and would have ended up becoming a real example but he was saved by Ambrose’s teammates.
Dale Steyn
The fast bowling legend, Steyn was also a very short-tempered person. When the going got rough, Steyn would not hesitate to let his thoughts known to the opposition. His celebrations too are over the top and really pumped up.
Ian Botham
The legendary England all-rounder is another one who is known to have a really short temper. He has gotten into trouble with both – passengers on a plane as well as his own players. He was certainly someone who was not to be messed with.
Shoaib Akthar
The Rawalpindi Express was really a fast bowler who could crush the ego of any batsman. With his long, hard stares and 150 km/h bouncers, Akthar epitomized aggression like nobody else in the game.
Javed Miandad
The short Pakistani batsman is really someone who would not come across as an aggressive person, but the kicking incident with Dennis Lillee really showed his ugly side. He is also known to abuse opposition players during the games just to sledge them.
Gautam Gambhir
Gautam Gambhir is one player who is always ready to go toe-to-toe with any opposition. He does not hold back and has been involved in multiple incidents both domestically and in international matches.
Andrew Symonds
Another player who would really have a go at the opposition is Andrew Symonds. The Australian was involved in the infamous monkey-gate scandal against India and is known to abuse on so many other occasions.
Virat Kohli
What’s there to be said of Kohli’s aggressive nature that hasn’t already been said? Kohli is one of the most aggressive players out there and does not mince his words whenever the situation arises.
David Warner
Warner is another one who has a really short temper and can bully any opposition just with his sledging nature. He is known to have gotten into incidents that have really taken an ugly turn but he has mellowed off late.
