Indian batting superstar Virat Kohli registered his 47th ODI century, as he reached his ton in just 84 balls against the arch-rivals Pakistan in the ongoing Super 4 Stage of the Asia Cup 2023 on Monday.

Kohli and KL Rahul started India’s innings on reserve day after a delay in start on Monday. Both the batters dominated the game with amazing hundreds and pulled off an unbeaten 233-run stand for the third wicket to help India score 356 runs for 2 in 50 overs. Virat Kohli finished the innings with three consecutive boundaries, including a six on the last ball off Faheem Ashraf. He played a stellar knock of 122* runs off 94 balls and Rahul remained unbeaten on 111 runs off 106 balls with memorable knocks.

Virat Kohli registered multiple achievements

Kohli reached the milestone one ball after completing 13,000 runs in the ODI format, becoming just the fifth man to do so. However, he is the fastest batter to achieve this feat. Not just this, Kohli registered multiple achievements during his sensational century to help India dominate the game at Colombo’s R Premadasa Stadium.

Virat needed just 90 runs to reach the 13,000 runs in ODIs on the reserve day of a rain-hit game. After smashing his 47th ODI century, Kohli is now only two hundred behind Sachin Tendulkar’s record of 49 centuries. Kohli also became the first player to score ODI centuries in four consecutive innings at a single venue.

Most runs in ODI history:

Sachin Tendulkar – 18426 runs in 452 innings
Kumar Sangakkara – 14234 runs in 380 innings
Ricky Ponting – 13704 runs in 365 innings
Sanath Jayasuriya – 13430 runs in 433 innings
Virat Kohli – 13000* runs in 267 innings

Meanwhile, fans on social media were left in awe of King Kohli, who came up with amazing reactions, hailing the brilliance of the batting legend. There were many who shared pic memes and tweets.
