India’s middle-order batter Suryakumar Yadav caught the attention of the world with his stunning performance throughout 2022. He left his fans across the world awe-struck with his amazing performances as he grabbed the world’s no.1 position in the ICC rankings of the shortest format of the game.
Suryakumar, who made his debut for the Indian cricket team in March 2021, took no time to establish himself as one of the strongest pillars of the Indian batting unit in the shortest format of the game. SKY not just impressed the world with his consistent performances but also with the way he used to score runs. His high strike rate made him the ‘x-factor’ of the Indian cricket team. Not just this, his high range of shots also saw him getting compared to the legendary South African batter AB de Villiers.
While Surya has become India’s ‘Mr 360-degree’ after giving back-to-back amazing performances, on the other hand, in South Africa it is Dewald Brevis, who has earned the nickname of ‘Baby AB’. The young Proteas batter is known for his batting style which is very similar to that of AB de Villiers.
Interestingly, both Baby AB and SKY are teammates in the Indian Premier League (IPL) for Mumbai Indians. And recently both the sensational batters came live for a candid conversation.
SKY was full of praise for the young batter as he hailed his incredible knock in a recent knock in domestic cricket. For the unversed, recently in a T20 game, Brevis played an incredible knock of 57-ball 162. SKY asked Brevis to teach him his special ‘no-look’ shot. SKY asked: “I’m just trying to copy you sometimes. The way you bat. You have to teach me one thing. How do you do that no-look shot, no-look six? I just want to learn that from you,”
Responding to this, Brevis gave a humble reply. He said: “I would love to, it would be an honour. I would love to learn lots of shots from you as well. I want to tell you a funny story of this. My no look just happens. It’s weird, I don’t know, it just happens,” Brevis replied.
