Royal Challengers Bangalore released quite a few significant names from their echelons ahead of the 2024 auction that features the likes of Wanindu Hasaranga, Harshal Patel and Josh Hazlewood. With Cameron Green coming in, their batting looks absolutely solid but what about their bowling options, a major concern for RCB throughout the years.
Ahead of IPL 2024 auction, here are three players who can be bought by RCB with a purse of INR 23 crore that will help the Faf du Plessis-led unit to identify them as title challengers or maybe as a team good enough to help Virat Kohli lift an IPL trophy after his enviable legacy.
#1 Mitchell Starc

Needless to say, Mitchell Starc will be RCB’s top priority on their radar considering the fact that they will need a bowling spearhead. They may bank upon the likes of Reece Topley to get them through but one major problem with the Englishman is that he is extremely injury prone and Mohammed Siraj alone may not be enough. Hence, the arrival of Mitchell Starc will stabilize their ranks firmly and will allow RCB to have a quality option in their lower-order batting as the lanky southpaw can hold fort at one end.
#2 Pat Cummins
Another fast bowler who has been sensational in the threads of KKR in the last two of the three years, the Aussie skipper can bring in a new horizon to any team that he plays for. He is an eminent fast bowler and also, can strike the ball by a fair mile on his heyday. He holds the record for the second fastest half-century in IPL which is a feat that he shares with KL Rahul, smashing the feat in just 14 balls, one adrift of Yashasvi Jaiswal. Cummins is also an excellent death bowler and when it comes to keeping things economical the towering Aussie can be an absolute game-changer.
#3 Shardul Thakur
Lord Thakur was released by KKR after a shoddy display in the last year’s IPL. However, one of his noteworthy performances came against RCB where he played a gem of a knock to not only lead the show with the bat but also claim crucial wickets. He is someone who always loves to claim scalps and his hard-hitting flair towards the toe-end of the innings makes him an absolute gift to any side that he plays for.
