Ridhima Pathak Shared Why Tilak Varma Is So Special

Tilak Varma was the find of the IPL last year and undoubtedly the brightest spot for the Mumbai Indians in their dull, largely forgettable IPL 2022 campaign where they finished last out of 10 teams.

So impressive was Tilak Varma last season, with his talent, technique, and temperament, that led to skipper Rohit Sharma saying that the southpaw will soon be an all-format player for India.

After scoring 397 runs last season, while most of the time bailing Mumbai Indians out of a top-order malfunction, Tilak Varma has started the IPL 2023 on a similar note. And while MI’s top-order of Rohit and Kishan have fared better so far than they did at the start of last season, young Tilak Varma has been brilliant despite being shuffled in the batting order and being shuffled up and down with Suryakumar Yadav and Cameron Green being sometimes batting ahead of him.

Ridhima Pathak makes a special tweet on Tilak Varma, highlights the uniqueness of the youngster

After 5 innings, he is now Mumbai Indians’ top-scorer with 214 runs at an average of 53 and strike rate of 158. He had started the tournament in a spectacular fashion, hitting 84* vs RCB and after that he’s played 4 significant innings with a lowest score of 22 on a sluggish track in Mumbai. His other scores have been 41, 30, and the latest of which, 37 off 17 vs SRH on a slow-ish, low-ish pitch in Hyderabad, called up for a special tweet from renowned host, anchor, and commentator Ridhima Pathak.

Tilak Varma’s knock against SRH on a track that got challenging for batting against spinners was laced with 2 fours and 4 sweetly-timed sixes.

Ridhima Pathak, who is known for her takes on sport, especially cricket, said that Tilak Varma making his batting so pleasing to the eye is what makes him special. A great future prospect for MI and India, she added.

“Tilak Varma is so pleasing to the eyes. You just want to see him hit every ball. A good prospect for MI’s future. #SRHvsMI #IPL2023,” Ridhima Pathak tweeted.

Meanwhile, Mumbai Indians have reached a total of 192 after Markram had won the toss and elected to bowl first.
