India opener Shubman Gill is batting in a dream mode over the past couple of months. Hailed as the future of Indian cricket, Shubman Gill is dominating thee present as well.
Less than a month after he smashed his maiden ODI double century, which itself was a month after he had raised his maiden Test century, Shubman Gill, all of 23 years old, whacked his maiden T20I century, against New Zealand, and sent the buzzing Ahmedabad crowd, which included Sachin Tendulkar and other BCCI dignitaries, into raptures.
Against the Kiwis at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Shubman Gill ransacked 126 unbeaten runs off 63 balls, becoming only the 5th Indian batsman to hit hundreds in all three formats, following Suresh Raina, Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul, and Virat Kohli.
Gill’s 126* is also now the highest individual score from an Indian batsman in T20I, overtaking Virat Kohli’s 122* vs Afghanistan in last year’s Asia Cup. At third place is Rohit Sharma for his 118 vs Sri Lanka in 2017.
Shubman Gill gets proposal from a female fan in the Ahmedabad stadium
In the first of many likely to come, Shubman Gill got a proposal from a female fan in the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad during the third T20I against New Zealand. Apart from his classy batting on the field, Gill is getting recognition off the field too as the 23-year-old regularly posts pictures and videos on social media.
During the game, a female fan, blushingly, raised a placard that read: “TINDER SHUBMAN SE MATCH KARADO”
This fan’s antic has gone viral on social media.
This fan’s wish is unlikely to be fulfilled currently because Shubman Gill is reported to be dating bollywood actress Sara Ali Khan, the daughter of veteran Indian actor Saif Ali Khan. Gill had previously been reported to have dated Sara Tendulkar, daughter of Sachin Tendulkar.
Coming back to cricket, speaking after his maiden T20I ton, Shubman Gill said: “It feels good when you practice and it pays off. I was backing myself to score big. Didn’t happen in the Sri Lanka series, but happy to see it work out now. Everybody has a different technique to hit sixes. Hardik bhai told me to play my game, not do anything extra and he kept backing me. When you represent your country, there is no fatigue. It was my dream to play for India, and I am very fortunate to be part of the team in all three formats.”
