Tom Moody Names The Two Bowling Changes That RCB Should Make

Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) suffered their second loss in the three games that they have played in IPL 2024. They faced off against Kolkata Knight Riders in Bengaluru. After getting asked to bat first, the RCB batters barring Kohli failed to get going. Kohli also struggled with his timing when the KKR bowlers bowled slower balls. However, he still managed to score 83 runs off 49 balls and helped RCB to a total of 182 for 6 in their 20 overs. People thought that will be a tricky chase given the slowness in the pitch.

However, all such assumptions were done and dusted in the powerplay itself. Sunil Narine and Phil Salt inflicted mayhem on the RCB bowlers. Salt scored 30 runs off 20 deliveries but Sunil Narine scored 47 runs off 22 balls with a 213 strike rate. Venkatesh Iyer complemented the opening partnership by scoring 50 runs off 30 deliveries. Shreyas Iyer also scored 39 runs off 24 deliveries as KKR managed to beat RCB by 7 wickets and increase their dominance on RCB in Bengaluru. They have not lost against RCB in Bengaluru since 2015.

RCB bowlers have always been the cause of worry for the franchise over the years. The same thing is happening in this season as well. They were quite average in the first two matches and the same suit followed against KKR as well. They had no planning, and were ripped apart in the powerplay. On a pitch, which was assisting slower deliveries, RCB bowlers bowled pace up in the powerplay and were tonked to all parts of the ground.

Former England cricketer, Michael Vaughan feels that RCB will not be able to achieve success in IPL 2024 with this bowling attack. “Impossible for @RCBTweets to win the IPL with this bowling attack .. #OnOn #IPL2024live,” Vaughan wrote. Tom Moody meanwhile feels that RCB needs to play two overseas fast bowlers in the form of Lockie Ferguson and Reece Topley. “#RCB have no choice but to play two overseas specialist pace bowlers. #Ferguson and #Topley must start. #IPL24,” wrote Moody.
