Cricket has always been seen as a batsman’s game. Bowlers have often been ignored while the batsmen have enjoyed the larger part of the limelight. But cricket is a culmination of both, batting and bowling and just because a team can bat well doesn’t mean it’s winning every time.
A team must have the kind of bowlers which can deliver wickets and crucial breakthroughs as and when required.
A bowler when he walks out to bowl, aims nothing less than a 5 wicket haul. While batsmen relish a century, for bowlers it’s about relishing the 5 wicket hauls they have had in their career.
A bowler too can turn a game on its head and it’s not always a batsman’s show. Hence we take a look at the list of bowlers with most 5 wicket hauls to their names in One Day Internationals.
On top of the list is Pakistan’s former ace pacer Waqar Younis who has taken 5 wicket hauls 13 times in ODIs in his career. He is the only bowler who has 5 wicket hauls in excess of 10 in ODIs.
Next on the list Sri Lanka’s magician spinner Muralitharan with 10 five wicket hauls. Interestingly there’s no Indian in the top 10 which comes as a little disappointment. Third in the list is Brett Lee followed by Shahid Afridi and then Lasith Malinga.
