Their 2020 team was so strong that fans regarded it as the most powerful franchise T20 team of all time. The reason for their immense success has been some of the best T20 batters and bowlers that MI have boasted over the years.

Rohit Sharma
Mumbai Indians skipper Rohit Sharma is the highest run-scorer for Mumbai Indians. Having joined the franchise in 2011, Sharma changed their fortunes since being elevated to the captaincy in 2013 and delivered five titles. With the bat, he has led from the front, scoring 4441 runs for MI at an average of 31. He has slammed 1 century and 32 fifties in the blue of Mumbai Indians.
Kieron Pollard
Kieron Pollard is an IPL veteran and a Mumbai Indians legend having been part of all of MI’s success in the past decade. Bought in the 2010 IPL auction, Pollard has amassed 3268 runs at 30, at a strike rate of 149.
Ambati Rayudu
Part of Mumbai Indians from 2010 to 2017, Ambati Rayudu was their floater who could bat at any position in the line-up. Rayudu, who also made it to the Indian team on the back of strong IPL performances, scored 2416 runs for MI at 27.
Sachin Tendulkar
MI’s first captain and their most beloved player, Sachin Tendulkar, retired after finally getting his hands on the IPL trophy in 2013. He recorded 2334 IPL runs at an average of 34. Tendulkar struck 13 fifties and 1 century in the IPL.
Suryakumar Yadav
Suryakumar Yadav was bought by MI at the 2018 mega-auction and has been one of their key performers in their last two title victories. Suryakumar has scored 1733 runs so far for MI at 32 while striking at 137, and also forced his way into the Indian team on his sheer brilliance with the bat.
Hardik Pandya
Hardik Pandya, who is not part of Mumbai Indians anymore moving on to the captaincy of Gujarat Titans, was scouted by MI and made his IPL debut in 2015. On his all-rounder skillset he’d would soon become a crucial cog of the national side.
A hard-hitter lower down the order, Pandya has scored his 1476 runs for MI at a strike rate of 153.
Quinton de Kock
Quinton de Kock had a highly successful stint at MI from 2019 to 2021, making significant contributions as an opener and wicket-keeper in their last two title victories. The left-hander scored 1329 runs in his three years at MI at an average of 34 and a strike rate of 131, with 10 half-centuries.
Krunal Pandya
Another product of Mumbai’s excellent scouting system, Krunal Pandya, Hardik’s elder brother, was Man of the Match in the 2017 IPL final versus Pune Supergiant. The left-hander, who will now play for Lucknow, spent his last six seasons at MI and managed 1143 runs at an average of 22 while striking at 138.
Ishan Kishan
Mumbai went all-out to retain the services of 23-year-old Ishan Kishan at the mega-auction, buying him for 15.25 crore. Kishan has gone from strength to strength since joining MI in 2018 and now is part of India’s T20 setup.
Kishan has scored 1133 for Mumbai at an average of 31, strike rate of 138 with a best of 99.
Lendl Simmons played four seasons in the IPL – all for Mumbai Indians – from 2014 to 2017, winning the titles in 2015 and 2017. He registered a brilliant hundred against Punjab in 2014. Simmons scored a total of 1079 runs at an average of 40. He stroked 11 fifties and a century.
