World Cup

India extended their winning streak over Pakistan to 8-0 in the ODI World Cup when the Men In Blue defeated the Men In Green by 7 wickets at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

India captain and opener Rohit Sharma was the wrecker in chief with the bat, smashing 86 runs in 63 balls as India cantered to the 192-run target in 30.3 overs.

This was after the Indian bowlers had put in a brilliant collective shift led by Jasprit Bumrah, the Man of the Match, who returned with stunning figures of 2/19 in 7 overs. Five bowlers – Bumrah, Kuldeep, Hardik, Jadeja, and Siraj – took two wickets each.

There have been many sensational batting performances from the Indian batters that have helped them create this 8-0 record over Pakistan in the ODI World Cup.

Here are top 5 highest scores of Indian batsmen against Pakistan in ODI World Cup:

Rohit Sharma – 140, 2019 World Cup

Rohit Sharma had a dream run in the 2019 World Cup in England where he hit 5 centuries. One of them was against Pakistan in Manchester, where he scored 140 runs in 113 balls. Century from Rohit, and fifties from Kohli and Rahul helped India pile up 336 runs. Pakistan managed only 212 runs in their chase.

Virat Kohli – 107, 2015 World Cup

Virat Kohli reserved his best in the 2015 WC for Pakistan. On one of his favorite grounds in the world, the Adelaide Oval, Kohli scored 107 runs. 73 from Dhawan and 74 from Raina meant India finished with 300 runs and eventually won by 76 runs.

Sachin Tendulkar – 98, 2003 World Cup

Sachin Tendulkar has often hailed his knock against Pakistan in the 2003 WC as his best ODI innings. In Centurion, chasing a steep target of 274 runs, Tendulkar went after the famed pace attack of Wasim, Waqar, and Akhtar, walloping 98 runs in only 75 balls with the help of 12 fours and a six. India won by 6 wickets.

Navjot Sidhu – 93, 1996 World Cup

A lesser remembered innings, but quite significant in the IND vs PAK rivalry is that of former opener Navjot Sidhu. In the 1996 WC encounter, Sidhu scored 93 runs in 115 balls in Bangalore. A late blitz of 45 runs in 25 balls from Ajay Jadeja helped India post a total of 287 runs, which the bowlers defended successfully.

Rohit Sharma – 86, 2023 World Cup

Rohit Sharma’s recent hammering of the Pakistani pace trio of Shaheen Afridi, Haris Rauf, and Hasan Ali in Ahmedabad will be remembered for a long time. Rohit’s knock included 6 fours and 6 sixes, which included a first-ball four to Shaheen.
