After the demolition of the Pakistan cricket team was completed, with India winning by 7 wickets and 19.3 overs to spare, Rohit revealed that he had had a hilarious conversation with the umpire Marais Erasmus.
Marais Erasmus had the best seat in the house to witness Rohit Sharma’s fireworks at the Narendra Modi stadium in Ahmedabad.

Rohit said that Marais Erasmus jokingly asked him if there was something in his bat that helped him hit big sixes. Flexing his muscles to the umpire, Sharma replied that was his power with which he was able to hit such long sixes.
Speaking with Hardik Pandya after the game, Rohit Sharma said: “He (umpire Marais Erasmus) was asking me, ‘How are you able to hit such sixes? Is there something in your bat?’ I told him, No, it’s not the bat. It’s all power.”

Rohit Sharma is now the third-leading run-scorer in the tournament with 217 runs which he’s scored at a bumper strike rate of 141.
Jasprit Bumrah was the Man of the Match for his brilliant figures of 2/19 in 7 overs. Five bowlers – Bumrah, Kuldeep, Hardik, Jadeja, and Siraj – took two wickets each.
Rohit credited the bowlers, saying: “The bowlers were the ones today as well who set the game up for us. I don’t think it was a 190 pitch. At one stage we were looking at 280. The way they showed grit says a lot. That is something we pride ourselves in. Whoever gets the ball does the job. We’ve got 6 individuals who can do the job with the ball. My job as a captain is important there as well. It’s to read the conditions and figure out who’s the right guy to do the job.”
India next face Bangladesh in Pune on October 19.
