In an incredible turn of events, India rode roughshod over England on the third day of the fourth Test match to flip the tide of the game around in their favour.
It was an excellent display of batting from Rohit Sharma and Cheteshwar Pujara who dominated almost a couple of sessions after the fall of KL Rahul.
Rohit inflicted the carnage upon the English batters, hacking away in a carefree manner while Pujara played the role of a reposed anchor at the other end.
After a marathon effort of 127 from 256 balls that witnessed Rohit smacking 14 fours and a six, he was finally bested by Ollie Robinson.
However, en route to the monumental knock, Rohit rattled a few records along the way and one such record was of being the man with the most number of half-centuries by a visiting batsman in England.
He equalled the record penned by Rohit Sharma with 18 half-centuries in England. It was previously held by Australian opener, David Warner.
The list of half-centurions in England from visiting nations is quite a resplendent one as it comprises the likes of Gordon Greenidge and Chris Gayle in the second position with 17 half-centuries while Mark Taylor is in the third place with 14 fifties and Sunil Gavaskar is in the fourth place with thirteen.
Sharma was absolutely relentless in his strokeplay and the way he dealt with the English bowling was an absolute spectacle to behold.
Pujara and Rahul gave him perfect company. Virat Kohli and Rahane played a deceny knock at the end of the day to ensure that India didn’t lose any further wickets as the scoreline read 270 for 3 with India leading by 171 runs.
Things didn’t really seem well on the opening day when India was bundled out for 191. However, an excellent display from the bowlers reeled England back in and Rohit Sharma and Pujara’s fine knocks turned the game around.
