Steve Smith Left Everybody Stunned With A “Genius” Move

Steve Smith Left Everybody Stunned With A “Genius” Move: England cricket team have already found themselves on the mat in the ongoing second Test match between England and Australia at the Adelaide Oval. England cricket team needed an unlikely 468 runs to win and the visitors received a massive blow when all-rounder Ben Stokes was dismissed by Nathan Lyon for 12 runs on Day 5 of the Pink-ball Test match.

Ben Stokes was the only hope remaining for the visitors after the dismissal of Ollie Pope in the first over of the day by Mitchell Starc. It was the brilliant review by Steve Smith, which led to the dismissal of Ben Stokes.

Nathan Lyon appealed for a leg-before Paul Wilson refused the appeal. However, Steve Smith called for DRS against the umpire’s decision and the review produced three ‘reds’ with Lyon’s delivery hitting the leg-stump against Stokes.

Ben Stokes was dismissed for 12 off 77 balls and the visitors were reduced to 105/6 in 57 overs with Jos Buttler and Chris Woakes in the middle.

Here, watch the video of Smith’s brilliant review to dismiss Ben Stokes:

Smith’s decision turned out to be a tactical masterstroke as Mitchell Starc was able to get rid of Dawid Malan in the over, which was also caught by Smith at slip. Bret Lee, while commentating, called Smith a “genius”.

Look what I know, seriously,” laughed Waugh. Later, Adam Gilchrist said: “Steve Smith can do no wrong back in a leadership position in this Australian team. 93 and outstanding catching.”
