Kolkata Knight Riders took the field for the fifth time in today’s game as they went toe-to-toe against Rajasthan Royals at Wankhede.
This has been deemed has a clash of two low-lying contenders where both the teams have failed to impress with one team lacking their main players while the other have bragged about the fullest team strength and yet lacked depth.
Ever since today’s game began, Kolkata started faltering way too early. After a cautious approach for some unknown reason on a surface that has been excessively conducive to the batters, Kolkata started losing wickets.
Gill’s woeful batting form continued as he failed to live up to the expectations. Nitish Rana’s new gear of mediocrity was eyesore to the most of the Kolkata fans. Narine came there tow waste another five balls. Morgan got out after a freak dismissal.
Karthik and Tripathi did manage to plug a few gaps but the amount of time that they took was so staggering that it left Andre Russell with a few minutes at the crease.
He was shouldered with the onus of hammering those colossal strikes with veey few deliveries left. By the time he got hold of things, it was further late and Morris got the better of him, thanks to a decent take in the deep by David Miller and a poor connection with the bat.
Fans wreren’t really happy to see their star batsman being held until so late which cost Kolkata dearly. Twitter exploded in ire to this weird decision of the management to bring the big Dre Russ later down the order.

Not Russell @Russell12A but @KKRiders have failed. You can’t have him sitting in the dugout for 16 overs and then come and wave some magic wand. Strange tactics, even stranger batting #KKRvsRR #IPL2021

Andre Russell is a proper T20 batsman. Happens to be one of the best finishers. But he’s not just a finisher! #RRvsKKR
