After losing Rohit Sharma early, India was hoping to witness a big partnership between Shikhar Dhawan and Virat Kohli, Things were going well and Shikhar Dhawan was playing his natural game unless a tragedy happened. Shikhar Dhawan was run out on 35 and the culprit was captain Kohli.
On the second delivery of the 13th over by Chris Morris, Shikhar Dhawan missed out on the delivery as it hit his pad. The ball was too close to the fielder and Dhawan wasnβt even looking up. Suddenly he realized that Virat Kohli has charged for the run and Dhawan had to reciprocate.
VIRAT KOHLI THE CULPRIT
The run was never there and when Aiden Markram from backward point dislodged the stumps with a direct hit, Dhawan was nowhere near the crease. It was Kohliβs call and frankly, there was never a run for the taking. As Dhawan got run out he was just furious at Kohli and sought answers in anger.
This came as a big blow to India as Dhawan was playing really well. Dhawan looked spectacular for his 35 from 29 balls. After the first wicket fell for 33 in the form of Rohit Sharma, there was a little partnership building up between Dhawan and Kohli. But the partnership ended in a disastrous run out and Kohli would surely not want to see the replay.
India has delivered a clinical bowling performance having reduced South Africa to just 269. Given the fact that South Africa is a great one day side, Kohli and his men will be happy to chase down 270. Indian bowlers especially the spinners were on top of their game. Now let us see if the batsman can do the rest.
