Umesh Yadav Has Smashed More Sixes In Tests Than Virat Kohli Since 2019

The Indian Test captain, Virat Kohli played a gritty knock in the first innings of the ongoing third and final Test match against South Africa in Cape Town. Virat Kohli, who is going through a rough patch in his career, played one of the most memorable knocks on the toughest pitch to bat at. His knock has turned out to be one of the vital talking points.

Although, he wasn’t able to score his 71st century today but he managed to zip the mouths of his critics. He fought like a lone warrior as wickets kept falling from the other end, however, he couldn’t reach the much-awaited milestone and was dismissed after scoring 79 runs. During his knock, Kohli hit 12 boundaries and one six.

Virat pulled Rabada for a stunning six to bring India’s first maximum of the match. However, as it turns out, Virat has created a unique stat for himself, that everyone is having a hard time believing.

Well, a tweet by a renowned statistician Mohandas Menon has been going viral on the internet, where he has revealed how this was only Kohli’s fifth six in Tests in the last three years – since 2019. Yes, you read that right.

Virat Kohli has scored only 5 sixes since 2019, whereas the Indian batting trio of Rohit Sharma, Mayank Agarwal, and Rishabh Pant, who have smashed sixes 31, 25, and 18 times respectively. Mohandas Menon revealed:

A rare six for Virat Kohli in Tests! Today his six at Cape Town is the only fifth in the last three years! During the same period Rohit Sharma, Mayank Agarwal and Rishabh Pant have hit 31, 25 & 18 sixes respectively!”

As a matter of fact, even Indian bowler Umesh Yadav has smashed more sixes than Virat Kohli. Yes, you read that right. Replying to a fan, Menon revealed how Umesh has smashed 11 sixes and off far lesser deliveries. He wrote:

Umesh 11 sixes in 155 balls, Kohli 5 in 2568 balls!”
