Mohammed Siraj bowled an unplayable delivery to Marnus Labuschagne, following which Australian team physio was summoned early in the first hour of the ICC World Test Championship final at The Oval in London.

After having removed opener Usman Khawaja with a stunner for a 10-ball duck, Siraj continued his lethal attack on the world’s top-ranked team as he got the ball to move while beating the outside edge consistently.

As the game kickstarted, Team India captain Rohit Sharma won the toss and opted to bowl first as he expected the pitch to remain the same during the five-day contest. And his decision worked in favor for his side as Siraj sent Khawaja packing in the fourth over.

Marnus Labuschagne joined David Warner in the middle and the duo played cautiously in the challenging conditions.

While Labuschagne got off the mark on the first ball that he faced, but he has since struggled to tackle the Indian pacers on a green surface.

During the 8th over of the Australian innings, Siraj delivered a short ball, that left Labuschagne confused as he made a very late attempt to leave it alone but by then it was too late.

The ball struck his left thumb and instantly, Marnus dropped his bat and looked in considerable pain. The contest was halted for a short period as the world’s top-ranked Test batter received some treatment before he finally resumed his innings. He is batting on 12 runs off 30 balls at the moment.

The video of the incident was shared by the ICC via their official Instagram account.  Watch the video:

Meanwhile, Mohammed Siraj and Mohammed Shami have managed to keep the Australian batters in the back seat thus far in the ongoing game.

On the other hand, the Australian top-order will look to retain their wickets and build partnerships in the middle as the pitch is likely to get better for batting as the game progresses.
