The Indian cricket squad is led by the gregarious Rohit Sharma, who is well-known not just for his excellent batting talents but also for his distinct sense of humour and ‘Mumbaikar’ manner of speech. India won the Asia Cup 2023, and Rohit Sharma was on hand for the postgame press conference to show off his charisma and humour.
The press conference took an unexpected turn when the sound of firecrackers rang out, celebrating India’s victory, while he received questions from reporters. With a kind grin, Rohit Sharma acknowledged the disruption and said, “Are world cup jeetne k bad phodo yaar,” which means “Burst the firecrackers after India wins the upcoming ICC Cricket World Cup.”
Through this humorous exchange, Rohit was able to exhibit his ability to communicate with fans and the media, winning over the hearts of cricket fans everywhere. However, Rohit Sharma also took some time to ponder on India’s stunning achievement in the Asia Cup final among the joking and celebrations. His fast bowlers were crucial to India’s resounding win, and he was understandably elated by their performance.

In particular, Mohammed Siraj stood out, as he ended his spell with outstanding statistics of 6 for 21. The Sri Lankan batting order was decimated in the first six overs of the game thanks to Siraj’s scorching opening spell. While Jasprit Bumrah got things going, it was Siraj who caused mayhem by taking four wickets in an over and bringing Sri Lanka’s score down to 12 for 6.
The agony for the host team continued when Siraj came back in the same over to take out the Sri Lankan skipper, Dasun Shanaka. Sri Lanka managed just 50 runs in the end, their second-lowest ODI score ever.

Indian openers Ishan Kishan and Shubman Gill wasted little time in their pursuit of a modest score. India won convincingly, adding 32 runs in only three overs, and they ended up needing just 263 balls to do it, despite losing 10 wickets in the process.
The funny invitation to let off firecrackers in celebration of India’s impressive triumph at the ICC Cricket World Cup by Rohit Sharma has grabbed the imagination of supporters and added an additional layer of excitement to the cricketing fervour that already surrounds this cherished sport.
