[Video] Sarfaraz Khan Got A Video Call From Brother Musheer After His Test Debut

26-year-old Sarfaraz Khan had a memorable Test debut innings as the right-hander from Mumbai blasted 62 runs in 66 balls in Rajkot against England.

Coming in at the score of 237/4, Sarfaraz Khan remained cautious against Mark Wood before tearing into the England spinners with utter disdain. He cracked 9 fours and 1 six in his entertaining innings and looked primed for a spectacular debut Test century, but that wasn’t to be today as he got run out after a wrong call from Ravindra Jadeja, who later apologized to the youngster on Instagram.

Sarfaraz walked back to a standing ovation from the Rajkot crowd, which included his father Naushad Khan and his wife, and the Indian dressing room.

After the end of the day’s play in Rajkot on Thursday, Sarfaraz Khan received a special phone call from his younger brother Musheer Khan, who has recently returned from an impressive under-19 World Cup campaign in South Africa.

The BCCI uploaded the video of this special phone call conversation between Sarfaraz and Musheer. Sarfaraz showed his brother his Test cap, which was earlier given to him by Anil Kumble, and encouraged his younger brother.

Musheer can be heard saying, β€œBhai ek number. Maza aa gaya, dil khush ho gaya.” (Brother No. 1 performance. Really enjoyed it and very happy.

Musheer was the second-highest run-scorer in the u-19 World Cup in South Africa, where India reached the final unbeaten but lost in the final to Australia.

Meanwhile, in the press conference, Sarfaraz gave a measured and mature response when asked about his run-out.

“(After stumps) He (Jadeja) told me that miscommunication happened from his end. However, I just said in return that it’s okay such things happen. Miscommunication happens, it’s just a part of the game. Run-outs happen in cricket. It’s completely normal,” the debutant said.

India will begin Day 2 at the score of 326/5.
